Mainly because she was losing badly: Julie Quinn quits the District D 24th JDC race
Less than a few weeks before the election no less! Paul Purpura over at NOLA Media Group has all the skinny (Hat Tip Patricia on twitter.) It seems as though it was just yesterday “Scott Free” was joining all the other area district attorneys extolling Quinn’s virtues. Times flies because it was actually 29 days ago.
While Quinn’s withdrawl is good news for the public it also means security must be doubled, perhaps tripled around Jefferson Parish Prez John Young, upon whom Quinn sometimes predates.
With his new work on the home elevation boondoggle one wonders if we should keep an eye peeled on Hammerman over at WWLTeeVee.

One intriguing note was to the effect that the fat stooge Newell NoodleBrain Norman was on the usual suspect list of supporters, then bowed out after NoodleBrain’s wife was supporting Hilary. Not auspicious to have a fat weasel to ahem, weasel out on support. Another matter not helping was Quinn “dissembling” early on as to being the only legit candidate in the race. As we all know, members of the political class can lie to the proles, but don’t do so to your fellow thugs unless you have the wherewithal to see it through.

Wow. The lawyers in Gretna just breathed a big collective sigh of relief. She would have been the second coming of Martha Sassone. Thank God!

I completely forgot about that spectacle with kopplin jr. In the legislature. Boy did we dodge a bullet. Bonus: someone not from JP gets a shot at judge.

Bingo … Quinn’s candidacy was a sham all along … and the tell was that all of the big names, including Connick, signed up on her behalf …
Hillary Landry is married to Mickey Landry (politically connected law firm of Landry and Shorr) … Hillary’s sister is married to Chris Coulon … Mickey’s mother is married to Judge Dennis …
Fortunately and aside from the politics, Hillary is a very competent lawyer …
I thought something was up when Hillary resigned from the DA’s office while Connick appeared to be supporting Quinn … Quinn was a shill to scare off any other substantial lawyer who may have thought about qualifying …
These JP Politico Mafioso are slick and will do anything to avoid a race that would cost money and embarrassment like the Villio/Stieb fiasco … and make no mistake … Quinn, like Villio, is a JP politico kneebender…
I shiver to think what Julie was promised in return to act out this black comedy …

Whit, I think you read too much into this. I doubt that Quinn was the spook to scare people off from this race, and proof of that is that there are going to be challengers to Landry. I really think that after her breakup with John Young, she just realized it was going to be a rough campaign without him by her side. She was going to get punished by her opponents for all of her stupidity, plus the vast majority of the bar would have opposed her, despite her lining up luminaries like Walter Reed, Paul Connick and Scott Perrilloux. I, for one, am happy she is out.

I think the stink from River Birch has her circling the wagon with the boys? To keep his deal with the DOJ Broussard is going to be throwing his crap every where’s in desperation as they squeeze him like a zit .
