Moving on and movin' along: LSU fills van Heerden's old position, Ivor signs with BP and where is Tim Whitmer these days? Corrected

with 18 comments

Let’s start todays job hunt round robin with LSU, which appears to have contradicted their own testimony on why Ivor van Heerden was let go per this Bill Barrow report:

Ivor van Heerden, released from his Louisiana State University faculty post, has cited new evidence in asking a federal judge to reconsider his rejected request to get his old job back.

The high-profile coastal researcher accuses LSU of parting ways with him because he so vocally blamed the Army Corps of Engineers for the levee breeches that flooded much of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.

In seven pages of filings, van Heerden tells U.S. District Judge James Brady that the LSU Coastal and Environmental Engineering Department on June 1 voted to hire a new associate professor, the same rank that van Heerden held until his contract expired last month. Making that new hire, van Heerden argues, is in direct conflict with LSU’s previous statements citing budget constraints to justify not renewing van Heerden’s deal.

Brady cited that defense when he declined on May 27 — five days before the College of Engineering’s new hire — to issue an injunction ordering LSU to hold van Heerden’s faculty spot open pending a jury trial on his claims.

A rolling stone gathers no moss but a coastal scientist in need of work these days ain’t smellin’ the oil and a BP Contractor, in a PR master stroke, has snatched up van Heerden. Editilla at the Ladder scooped that piece of news:

Here is a van Heerden quote from NPR’s All Things Considered:

Only tens of miles that have been oiled and very very few areas have been heavily oiled.

Did Ivor sell out or is he tellin’ it like it is? The AP is singing a slightly different tune.

Since the biggest oil spill in U.S. history began to unfold April 20 with an explosion that killed 11 workers aboard an offshore drilling rig, crude has fouled some 125 miles of Louisiana coastline and washed up in Alabama and Mississippi as well.

Finally Slabbed gives the answer to the biggest question since “Where is Waldo” as we tell the world with whom ol’ Tim Whitmer has gained employment, predictably working on the spill. After all, disgraced and soon to be indicted former CAOs need pre trial employment too.

Coming soon. Slabbed profiles Jefferson Parish’s Deano Bonano, the man in charge of the Parish’s portion of the oil spill. Did someone mention Chris Robert and Butch Ward today? You betcha Deano they sure did.

  1. FYI on Whitmer working for anyone associated with any clean up in Jefferson Parish. The Parish Charter prohibits him from doing anything associated with Jefferson Parish for 2 years from separation of service. USA might want to rethink it if they have indeed hired him.

  3. Until the Lagniappe story broke, I always figured Tim Whitmer would end up working for River Birch. After all, was he was at the helm when the JP Council entered into this long term, 25-year contract to take all municipal solid waste there?

  5. Well, thanks youz guyz! Hell, after the way you stuck wit’AROD I was beginning to look for my cookie? Ahem!
Ya’know, I just wasn’t sure I was hearing what I was hearing, so I listened to it another 20 times. I wanted to play nice sorta, since I’d thrown the Ladder behind Van Heerden and Levees.org campaign to reclaim his job at LSU.
Well, y’all have doubtless seen my tilla’rants on’dat.
But then he showed up on NPR AGAIN this morning, speaking now as one knowledgeable about how much oil is actually in the Gulf, in pseudo-defense of the moratorium on deep water drilling. That is: “they won’t leave, there is plenty of oil” etc. Since the flood, I have become suspicious of such unsubtling rhetoric, to wit: its ok BP will be back as will all the rest of them. They want the money. For me now that is his subconscious saying “And I will always have a job as our wetlands disappear!”
For whom does his ball toll?
That is the sort of thinking inculcated within a PR Sellout.
I hate this kind of deep contradiction, this assfuck of interests.
Still waiting on his response to my WTF email.
We’ll see what levees.org does with this Judas Priest.
    Thanks youz.

  6. A little birdie told me Phelps Dunbar has bird shitt hit the fan today. Something to do with a tour with BP and then the typical ” I didn’t see anything wrong comment.” The political aspect is out there but the Phelps Dunbar connection has not been made as far as I can see. Hope this helps.

  7. PUBLIC NOTICE:

The following Section of the Code of Ordinances applies to WHITMER, WILKINSON, BROUSSARD Parishwide and to VILLIO as to Code.

Any Employer who directly or indirectly contracts with the Parish of Jefferson is subject to this prohibition. There is no suspension of this provision because of the oil spill.

The JP District Attorney, the FBI, and the US Attorney should investigate the contract of any person, partnership, association, corporation, joint venture or any type of legal entity that is employing any of the individuals listed above.

These people have benefited in monetary excess from the human political disaster they caused the taxpayers of JP and should not be allowed to benefit from the ecological disaster of the oil spill one could attribute in part to their karma.

Sec. 23-114. – Regulations governing former employees in supervisory positions.

    (a)
General rule. No former public employee who served in a supervisory position shall, for a period of two (2) years following the termination of such employment, assist another person, whether or not for compensation, in any transaction or in any appearance in connection with any transaction, involving the agency or department of the parish with which such former employee was last employed.
    (b)
Share in compensation. No former public employee in a supervisory position shall share in any compensation received by another person for assistance which such former public employee is prohibited from rendering by subsection (a).
    (c)
Partnerships. No partnership of which a former public employee in a supervisory position is a partner, and no partner or employee of such a partnership, shall, for a period of two (2) years following the termination of his public employment, assist another person in any transaction or in any appearance in connection with any transaction involving the parish in which such former public employee in a supervisory position at any time participated during his public employment.
    (d)
Termination of public employment. For purposes of this section, the termination of a former public employee’s employment in a supervisory position with the agency or department by which he was employed when he so participated shall be deemed to be the termination of his public employment.
    (Code 1961, § 13-47)

We need to be vigilant people, this is exactly like Katrina when Whitmer took over and brought Hubbard in the fold ($!6, 000,000 MILLION within 6 weeks of Aug 29, 2005; a total of some $25 MILLION by February of 2006; and many more MILLIONS TO FOLLOW). This is exactly the kind of situation Whitmer, Coulon and friends and their proteges like Roberts are smelling; to get more inside deals and pay out larger contract dollars to get even more political contributions.

Mr. Letten, you need to do something NOW !

  8. Merci, Unslabbed, vous etes un ange decendu sur terre.

We should also point out that The JP Code Of Ordinances has teeth, and I for one intend that these teeth bite these people on the ass should they be found violating the prohibitions cited in 23-114.

Sec. 1-10. – Penalty; maximum; continuing violations.
It shall be unlawful for any person to violate or fail to comply with any provision of this Code and where no specific penalty is provided therefor, the violation of any provision of this Code shall be punished by a fine not exceeding five hundred dollars ($500.00) or imprisonment for a term not exceeding six (6) months or by both such fine and imprisonment, within the discretion of the court.
Each day any violation of any provision of this Code shall continue constitutes a separate offense.

    And,

    Sec. 1-11. – Civil enforcement.
    (a)
In addition to criminal penalties provided for in section 1-10, the provisions of this Code may be enforced by appropriate civil proceedings in any court of competent jurisdiction.
    (b)
The parish may also cause any and all utilities (whether publicly or privately owned) to be shut off and services discontinued, and may cause the building or property to be closed pursuant to section 27-181.
    (Ord. No. 16779, § I, 2-5-86; Ord. No. 23258, § 1, 2-27-08)

As to WHITMER, WILKINSON, BROUSSARD AND VILLIO…bande de chameaux… vous me rendez malade !

  9. GTFO!! They are who we thought they were. i said from day one that Dr. Ivar was a self-promoting shill. I guess this means Sandy Rosencratz will not be calling for a 4-20 commission!

Steve–isn’t Rep. Neil Abramson of counsel at Phelps? or is at A nf’n R? perhaps that would explain his comments the other day–before he backtracked, that is.

  12. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOwweeeeeeeeeeeeeeee I heard TheRiot say at a recent council meeting he received $1,000,000 from BP for “administrative” expenses concerning the oil spill and it was already spent. What is administrative expenses mean? Come on you “sham” auditor extraordinare should not you be itemizing what you have already spent so we can know its not being stolen or given to political cronies. Oh, but wait I forgot according to Jeffery Alford of http://www.thejeffersonreport.com and the public records he received from Brooke Bourgeois TheRiot has never visited the blogs on http://www.slabbed.com so I guess I’m not blogging directly into the eyes and ears of Furher TheRiot. Even though TheRiot’s infamous lawsuit sued slabbed for bloggers names for their libel and slanderous statements causing him embarassment,I’m supposed to believe TheRiot has never visited slabbed. So much for the truth, integrity and completeness of public records going through the hands of Mr.Giangrosso and Brooke Bourgeois concerning the online activities of the Furher.Maybe we should contact Mr.Bonano to break down the Furher’s door and steal his computer and get an expert to examine his hard drive like they did to anne maria vandenweghe? Maybe Ms. Bourgeois blogs on slabbed so I’ll ask her if it seems a bit strange to her that TheRiot was embarassed by the bloggers on slabbed ,but he has never visited the web site and therefore never has read any blogs? Well Ms.Bourgeios, do you believe the truthfulness, integrity and completeness of the records you gave to Jeffery Alford of thejeffersonreport? Anyway, I know TheRiot is going to read this so I respectfully ask: Furher TheRiot until you itemize every cent you receive from BP I will not believe BP’s money is not being stolen by political croniese of JP and I don’t give a damn whether you think that statement is insulting. Cause after the scandals this parish has sustained, you and the gang of seven are just like Tiger Woods, namely not to be trusted with yesterday’s newspaper and you and the gang of seven should have to constantly empty your pockets when you leave work and constantly prove to JP voters that you are not stealing or giving contracts to your political cronies! WOW !11 —I feel so good about getting that truth out that now I can go swing in the trees cause I feel so GGGGGGGOOOOOOOOD ! OOOOOOOOOOOOwweeeeeeeeeeeeee

  13. Sop, my parrot friend inquired about USA Enviromental, Inc and was told they have no present contracts in La., that they are in he bomb disposal/ cleanup industry and they have no one named Tim Whitmer on their employment rolls. There is a oil remediation company found at http://www.USAenviro.com out of Texas . Could this be the company where we could find Tim “Waldo” Whitmer and if said company is doing remediation work in La.?

  14. George my source was very specific. I’m told the work is in the Mobile area.

That said there are several companies with very similar names as a cursory google reveals. We want to get it right so your steer is much appreciated.

I will attempt to reconfirm with my source.

  15. It doesn’t matter if Timmy “the tax graber” Whitmer works in Mobile or East Jesus, what matters is whether or not the company he works for is doing business with Jefferson Parish.

Thanx guys, I’m beginning to understand the need the Nazi hunters felt, bring these MFs to justice.
